Celebrating Creativity

"This Michael Card CD, like almost all CDs with his name on them is well worth the cash! The reasons why after more than 20 years of singing, song-writing, and touring he has waited until now to release a concert album is anyone's guess. But he couldn't have done better (unless "Come To the Table" had been included). I own all of Michael Card's music that is available on CD, but this was the first time I had ever heard his regular talking voice. When he speaks, it's not with the voice of a great speaker or a musical genius (although he is certainly that). When he addresses the audience, he does so in a way that not only do you, the listener, feel like you're a member of that audience, but that you're the only member. It feels like it's just you and him and the Lord. That's one of many things that make this CD so great to listen to.The other great thing is, of course, the music itself. He starts out with his timeless classic "El Shaddai", singing it in a slightly different way than normal, but still beautifully enough to appreciate this version as well as the original. Other really great Card classics on here include "Why", "God's Own Fool", "The Sunrise of Your Smile", and my all-time personal favorite "Love Crucified Arose". Most of the songs feature a beautiful piano accompaniment. We're also given two never-before released songs entitled "Scribbling In the Sand" and "Underneath the Door", before which Michael Card shares a wonderful personal story from his own childhood about how he came up with the idea for that particular song. Now that I know just how great a Michael Card concert is, I can't wait to see one!"
One of Micheal's best

"I am a longtime fan of Michael Card's music. I love his voice, and he and his music sound better live than prerecorded. I have seen him in concert 4-5 times and have had the opportunity to meet him. If you have not had the chance to see/hear him live, then this CD is a close second to being able to do that. A nice thing about the CD is that his comments are at the end of each track, so you can just skip forward to the next song if you don't want to hear the talking each time you play the CD.Some of Michael's best songs are on this CD. Many of them feature a guest vocalist or musician, which you may or may not enjoy. I personally love the album. The only thing that disappointed me was the fact that he didn't introduce one of the guest vocalists, Sarah Groves. Perhaps he didn't do this because, as he said live at a concert, she needs no introduction. It's great to hear her awesome voice on a couple of the songs!"
A Great Michael Card album!

"I've seen Michael a couple of times in concert, so when I saw this budget priced live album in the stores, I bought it without hesitation. I still play it frequently three years later. Michael dusts off some of his older songs ("Love Crucified Arose," "Know You in the Now," "El Shaddai"), and what I love about this album is that the live versions top the studio versions in almost every instance. "God's Own Fool" in particular is a revelation: Michael sung it WAY too high on the Scandalon album, but here it is sung just right with some nice African sounding drums in the background - perfect!!!

The aforementioned oldies that Michael plays here on piano are also superior to the originals, and there is also a nice song that he dedicates to his family ("Sunrise of your Smile").

This is a must buy if you are Michael Card fan, and it is a good first purchase if you have never heard him before.

My only complaint is "What is up with the crowd, they are SO quiet!" The song ends, and there is a two second pause before you hear some nice quiet clapping. What are those people on? If I was there listening to a live rendition of "Love Crucified Arose," I would be shouting "YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Otherwise, this is simply a great cd!"
