CD Reviews

Four of Eleven Tracks were great -the rest mediocre composit

"Michael Ball's performances on this new CD are fine, it's just the material that isn't up to his usual standard. I really liked One Voice, Where Do I Begin (Theme from the old "Love Story" movie), Lyin' Eyes (classy country/western genre), and Home. The rest of the songs are not my cup of Lipton as far as compositions go. Maybe someone who is into rock music may like them but I felt he included just to please that audience. I just didn't like the compositions but then, I'm extremely picky about my music and only collect Ball and Feinstein in the popular genre, preferring classical and opera. I have all of Ball's recordings because I admire his voice and incredible talent as well as what he can do with almost any song, ballad or upbeat. I listen to the other CD's repeatedly, however, this is not going to be one of my favorites except for the tracks I've mentioned. There are some of the orchestrations which are overdone but are tolerable. Overall, if you are a fan of Michael's, then the tracks I found as favorites, make the disc worth the price and, who knows, you may like the songs I didn't care for. I'm a senior with years of music education so most heavy rock sounds like just so much noise to me, even if Michael Ball is singing. I've heard many upbeat songs that he does extremely well. These songs are just inferior compositions in my opinion but well performed in general."

"After reading the only review here i didn't know what to expect, but i was pleasantly surprised. With the exception of "Since You've Been Gone", this is a great CD, A little pricey, but great. All Michael is doing is putting his own spin on some great songs. I liked the little known Manilow gem One Voice. This song was written for the theatre and Michael comes through. Also love I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, and Michael Buble's "Home" Buy this CD. I PROMISE you, you wont be disappointed!!!"
Very good!

"As a die hard Michael Ball fan, I am not surprised with the choice of music. Mr. Ball does not take the well traveled path, e.g. ALONE TOGETHER; and, each new project is better than the one before. The best surprise for me is "The Living Years". This has long been one of my favorite songs & Mr Ball's cover is better than P. Carratt. Overall, a really good CD - I bought one for the car & one for the house."
