It is very abrasive and jarring, but if you give it a little time to sink in I think you will find it to be enjoyable in a strange way. Whereas when you start the album you might feel like acupuncture is being performed on your brain with kitchen knives, after about ten minutes it feels like drinking a glass of warm milk and being able to feel it traveling down into your stomach. When I first bought it I was on a short road trip and decided that I would listen to both discs straight through, no interruptions. I did it, but I was struggling to stay awake by the end of it. I've said it before, I'll say it again: it's like being in the womb." Since 2000 there is probably no musician in any genre that is more devoted to animal rights and vegetarianism than Merzbow. If Frog is played at a relatively low volume it will be a delightful and exotic sound recording. If played at high volume the listener will feel like they are being struck by an audio hurricane. This is why Merzbow is so nonpareil and unique. All of Merzbow's recordings are creative, worthy endeavors. Respective fans just need to adjust the volume as a means to placte their ears' comfort levels. God bless Merzbow and lets save frogs from extinction."
