CD Reviews

This is a great cd !!!!!!!!!!!!
Gary E. Townsend | Monroeville, Pa United States | 05/07/2005

"The smooth sound coming from the b3 organ was awesome! This is a must cd for all smooth and traditional jazz lovers. You can hear the passion Mel put into this cd with the help of Ronny Jordan. Keep it coming."
Cutting edge of the organ scene
B-3 Steve | Oxford, England | 04/07/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I saw Mel perform some of the tracks from this album with Ronny Jordan in London last year. Having seen most of the major B-3 acts that have passed through the UK in recent years, I can honestly say that Mel is the only one who's stood out as fresh, new and exciting. His sound is big - he's a pedaller - and very modern. If you get the chance to see him live, take it - and buy this album as an introduction to what he can do."
Back to the future
the professor | Paterson, New Jersey United States | 05/11/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"The Hammond organ was overshadowed by the advent of synthesizers and electronic keyboards. It has remained in obscurity because most of the players have chosen to play it as it was in the heyday of Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff.

Mel Davis has taken the bold step of moving the Hammond organ into the 21st century with this bold breakthrough album. Under the guidance of smooth jazz guru Ronny Jordan, he has recorded an album using the Hammond organ that can be played on any modern radio format. Yet on a few songs , paid tribute to the rich Hammond legacy.

This is not your grandfathers Hammond organ album. It will give you insights into how the beauty of the Hammond sound is still alive and vibrant in today's music. And how close the Hammond organ, a staple in the black church, can come to emulating human emotion and spirit.

Listen and enjoy."
