Mel Brown was the drummer behind many famous groups (I believe mostly Motown groups, possibly even the Four Tops and the Temptations). Currently, he is probably one of the best jazz drummers around, certainly one of the best, if not the best, in Oregon. Seeing him playing live is a joy, as he is not only a phenominal drummer, but he just always seems to be having an incredably great time. Although hearing him on a recording cannot compare to actually seeing him live, this album is the next best thing. Recorded live at Jimmy Mak's (an intimate Greek restaurant and jazz club in Portland, OR), it really captures the sound of a great band live in a great club. Unconditionally recommended."
