CD Reviews

Excellent technical/neoclassical thrash

"Mekong Delta has been strangely underrated given their status as progenitors of the technical thrash movement of 1987-1992, releasing their debut album in 1987 (yes, before "And Justice for All"). They combine rhythmic complexity with melodies drawn from the Late Romantic period of classical, particularly from Mussorgsky. "Dances of Death," in my view Mekong Delta's best album, contains a rendition of Mussorgsky's "Night on Bare Mountain." This is crazy, quirky stuff, still with a lot of hooks. Songs like "True Believer" and "Parasite" will catch your ear immediately."
Progressive to the hilt

"This is probably Mekong Delta's thrashiest catchiest album, and their best. The vocals are aggressive and melodic, the riffs are wrist-numbingly technical, and the compositions of the songs leave your hair spinning and your heart pumping. My favorite part: the drumming. The drummer has a unique way of switching up the standard thrash beat where he goes from a bass drum on 1 snare on 2 to just the opposite. Not that its so unusual, but the way he does it throws you for loop and makes the already exciting music thrilling. This album was actually a cause for a fender bender I got into while I was headbanging. I know, I know, you shouldn't be headbanging while your driving, but sometimes you can't help yourself. Especially when Parasite starts pumpin' out your speaker.

I don't believe you

I don't believe in

PARASITES!!!"

"this group is from Gemany. I can find it's mp3 files in the cyberspace. and there's much recommandation for it. I think that the musics in this album is very difficult to understand. the prasing is too complicate for beginner. but this will cannot be problem. because this album is good enough and rare. maybe only 'watchtower' can overwhelm it's progression."
