Impressive and unique...

"Nikolai Medtner was clearly a great and redolent Russian lyrical composer. This contemplation was particularly entertaining because I could actually here the piano. I have previous recordings of the third Piano Concerto where the orchestra bombastically kills parts the piano solo mainly during the beginning of the finale and those expressive chords. The soloist in this recording plays the pieces brilliantly and the orchestra refrains from being verbose. I highly recommend this album to any aficionado of Medtner."
