Hot on the heels of the late 2009 release Solar, 4 time ARIA winner McGann returns with another live set, Double Dutch? A McGann gig so impressed Huub van Riel, guest on a visit designed to introduce Australian jazz to overseas presenters, that he invited him to The Bimhuis. The Amsterdam venue where he's Artistic Director is a key link in Europe's creative music network, presenting the best Europe and the world have to offer. The invitation was taken up when the Quartet toured Britain and Europe in late 2004. Double Dutch?, a 2-CD record of that night, the second gig on the tour, shows a band, which, 2 years after adding Alder, was road tested and ready. (Other presenters shared the enthusiasm, invitations flowed to play on another tour at festivals in Italy, Finland and elsewhere.)
