CD Reviews

An essential dance song for any hip hop fan.

"It is perhaps one of the earliest collaborations between Sean "Puff Dady" Combs and Missy Elliot that outshines MC Lyte in this song. A party mix essential, Cold Rock a Party is extremely listenable and danceable, even if its hooks are forgettable once the song is over. Recommended to any fan of the genre."

"I love this song, even now that it's like 8 years old, good beat, good mixing, good rapping. Wherever MC Lyte is now, who knows, but the few good songs she has are worth owning, for real!

Hey, I totally agree with the dude who said this is a great dance cd. I say cd because there are 6 songs, most of which are different. For those of you who are mostly hip hop fans not into much rap this is for you. The rap is manageable and the melody hook allows for you to completely enjoy it. While I agree that this is a great dance cd I don't agree that it is forgettable at all. I bought this cd when it came out in 1996. I was a junior in high school and I could not get that damn funky, fresh, crazy, insane hook out of my head. I went out and bought it right away. If you think that it sounds strangely familiar, it's because of the familiar Puff Daddy total sample of Diana Ross mega hits. This is no exception, sampling "Upside Down", which was in itself one of the most memorable hits in her spectatular career, the track flows from the first second to the last, buy this cd, it's an amazing thing to listen to wether your in a bad mood and need cheering up, cruising down town, or at a party, you'll love it, and it's timeless!"
