Synopsis

Album Description
The Max Weinberg 7 Every weeknight for seven years, 5 million viewers have rocked and bopped to the sounds of the Max Weinberg 7 ? ?the best band in late night TV? (Tom Shales, The Washington Post) on NBC?s popular late-night offering, Late Night With Conan O?Brien. Now, after a record breaking worldwide tour with the reformed Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, the highly respected drummer and his late-night ?co-horts?, The Max Weinberg 7, make their album debut. The Max Weinberg 7 (M&K Sound) release is a tour de force blend of rock, boogie, jump blues, and high energy swing with 17 vocal and instrumental tunes culled from the band?s songbook that audiences have enjoyed for years on the late-night hit show including ?Rock This Joint,? Lollipop,? ?Nervous Boogie,? and ?Jumpted?; plus a MW7 original, ?Catch ?em In The Act,? featuring the tasty piano & vocals of the legendary Dr. John. Called ?the rhythmic backbone of Bruce Springsteen?s E Street Band? by Robert Palmer of The New York Times, Max has been heard on such landmark albums as Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River, and Tunnel of Love, as well as 2 of the top-selling albums of all time: Born in the U.S.A. and Meatloaf?s Bat Out of Hell The Max Weinberg 7 is produced by Max Weinberg and arranged by Jimmy Vivino. Executive Producers are Ken Kreisel, Eric Gardner, and Stephen Powers.

7 big compliments, 1 small complaint

"first of all, i love this CD. i bought it the first day it was available and i don't regret it. all 7 of these guys are talented, amazing, superb, astounding... and a whole dictionary full of other adjectives that means "kicks your fanny into next week". in fact, i bought 4 more copies just so i can give them to friends and family as gifts. *deep breath* ok, here we go... 2 major disappointments with this CD - Mark "Love Man" Pender (ya gotta love the Love Man) only sings once on lead, and Richie "La Bamba" Rosenberg not at all. huh? wha...? now, i love Jimmy Vivino, and i adore all the CDs he's been on, but i was really hoping to hear La Bamba and Pender sing. imagine my disappointment to find Dr. John instead! if i wanted to listen to Dr. John, i would have bought one of his many CDs... i bought this one to hear the Max Weinberg 7.but still... from the start of the high-kickin' "Jumpted" to the deceptively simple-sweet piano work and harmonies on "The Last Minute", all of the numbers on this recording will make you hungry for more and wondering where they've been your whole life. and even though i listen to it every day, something will catch the corner of my ear and drop my jaw with how adroit, complex, and astoundingly talented these guys are. nobody, but _nobody_ can swing the blues like these boys can. now, go buy it. your ears will love you."
Swing to the Max!

"Yeah, it would have been cool to start this disc with "Conan's theme", but what can you do. This isn't actually my kind of music, but if you're into big band and swing, there's no denying that these guys are excellent musicians. Also a generous 17 tracks. So if you dig "Brian Setzer Orchestra" and that whole sound, you'll love this. Just too bad they didn't do a song with "Triumph"."
Thank God For The M>W 7

"I watch all the late night shows but nothing makes my day more than when I hear Max and his band on Conan.I can't think of any other band that does the kind of thing that they do that has inspired me to see if they have a cd or not. This is what I expected, fantastic jump blues making me smile from ear to ear at 2 am in the morning as I search the internet looking for the sound of musical joy.I survived the 90's and all that depression and Thank God for the Max Weinberg 7 and the happiness they make people feel when they play. It's just a shame they are not the special guests on Conans show so the home viewers can hear more of them."
