Synopsis

Album Description
Following yet another packed Meganite residency at Privilege in Ibiza, Spain this summer, and a subsequent Meganite compilation, Italian DJ Mauro Picotto is now set to unleash his highly anticipated third artist album, Superclub. Set over two CDs, entitled ?Giganite? and ?Megalounge? respectively, it is a showcase of everything from blistering tech house to horizontal Balearic chill. ?Giganite? features an unequalled selection of peak time club tracks, including the eighties-flavored Fergie collaboration "Funkytek", which samples the classic "Funky Time" to devastating effect. Also present are Mauro?s driving instrumental homage to Ibizan institution 'Kuhmaras', the speaker-freaking riffs of ?Winter Games? and the dark driving tech of ?Meganite.? In contrast, ?Megalounge? pours itself a long Sangria and unwinds over a ten track offering of downtempo, blissed out beats. Standouts include the fantastic cover of the Godley & Creme?s "Cry", the dreamy dusk melodies of "Ibiza Sunset", and the live drums and harps of "Sanderson", a track conceived after a stay at the top London hotel.

CD Reviews

Mauro's Better Than Ever!
Trance Lover | North Hollywood, CA USA | 04/28/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"After a couple of years of denying his fans an artist album, Mauro comes back with a vengeance! The first hard hitting CD, Giganite, is absolutely a must for any trance lover and will have the dance floor packed. The second album, Megalounge, gives all partiers a minute to chill and recoup -- perfect for when things start dying down and the sun starts coming up -- although I think the three songs with vocals are a bit depressing and are downers, so I would take them out of a playlist. The only negative is that since the tracks are unmixed, it makes it hard to keep the dance flow going -- so if you want to use this as a party album, then you might want to consider setting it up to overlap the tracks when either playing it on your computer or re-burning it onto a CD.

But other than that, this is a must buy -- whether you're driving in your car, working out at the gym, or planning a killer party, this double CD delivers the goods!"
Its dark techno

"its good stuff from the techno monster...other reviews say its a good trance album...Not true, its Picottos signature thumping techno so unless you like it hard dont bother with this one...it gets an 8/10 from me...and Im one of picottos biggest fans by the way"
Lost
J. Wahlgren | boston | 09/23/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I got lost in this mix immediately. The album has a disco feel, especially with the cover, but it is definitely solid and well produced trance. Cd 1 is entitled Gigante and cd 2 is titled Megalounge. Cd 1 has the club feel where cd 2 has the lounge feel. Funkytek & Aria are great tracks on the first disc but every track is decent. The method of fading and then bringing the beat is used a lot on this set."
