"One might be impatient with Maurane's predilection for best of's and live albums, if only they weren't so damn good. "A l'oympia" serves as a perfect companion to the artist's 1994 double live, "Une fille tres scene," since despite being recorded at the same venue, it manages to achieve a more intimate sound. Maurane's velvety alto has never sounded better (she always manages to sound better live than in the studio). Some standouts include a passionate re-reading of "Le monde est stone," the hilariously irreverent (it's sung over a Bach piano piece) vocal tour de force, "Concerto pour Arnould," "Lou et Louis," and a tear-jerking rendition of Brel's classic "La chanson des vieux amants." This album stands with the best of an opus that just keeps getting better and better. Bravo!"
