"When I visited Maui last year (year 2000) to celebrate Y2K in July, I often watched the kiki dancers do their bi-weekly free shows at the Cannery Mall in Lahaina. I loved the music and the dance so much that I went to the record store at the mall and asked about buying a c.d. with traditional Hawaiian Music but not exactly the Don Ho variety. He sold me 3 c.d.s and this one was and is my absolute favorite. It has very rich resonant vocals which contain clear falsetto melody variations, velvety harmonies, beautiful chord progressions and changes, slack key guitar at its best, great background musicians and familiar melodies. ... . With songs in native Hawaiian and English, you will sing along and never tire of this "album". .... Faye"

"This CD is extremely mellow, with slow-paced Hawaiian tunes that transport the listener right to Maui. The bandmembers are three guys, Kahi Kaonohi (Bass, Lead Vocals, Background Vocals), Bobby Moderow, Jr. (Lead Vocals, Background Vocals, Rhythm and Slack-Key Guitars) and Bruce Spencer (Ukulele, Lead Vocals, Background Vocals). My favorite song on the album is a lullaby, the 2nd track - Baby Kalae. Most listeners will recognize and enjoy the Maunalua's rendition of "Teach Your Children." One of the best purchase decisions ever. The lyrics are a mixture of Hawaiian and English. I wish I understood the Hawaiian but even though I don't, it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the tunes. Everytime I play the album, I picture myself sipping Mai Tais and relaxing. Mahalo."

"We were at Waikiki last week. One of the members of this group was entertaining at our hotel. I am going to buy both of their albums. This cd won in 2001 for the best Hawaiian Music of the year."
