Synopsis

Product Description
Patriot is a combination of original soft and classic rock pieces ranging from modern to traditional rock and roll with screaming guitar leads to some softer pieces with harmonica. The overall concept of the CD is to celebrate the U.S. Constitution and the men and women who fight to defend it, without being overly political. But it's also about non-political, everyday experiences most people can relate to.

Music that really makes you think!

"Matt has put his heart and soul into something he believes in, and it shows with the result! This is a CD you listen to and immediately want to read the lyrics. His music makes you think about what we owe our founding fathers, soldiers, past and present, and what they created. Maybe this CD should be sent as a wake-up call to each politician out there!"
A View From Another Country

"As an Australian, living in the US, I often wonder why, with the depth of "love of country" that is so apparent here, so many Americans feel themselves so "apart" or "different" from each other politically. Those of us from countries that have a wider political spectrum (from real left to right for example) could easily view US politics as two of the same looking for something different to criticize. Or, two apples desperately seeking an orange!

Therefore, it often saddens me to see so many good Americans venting so much spleen on other, equally good, Americans.

Therefore, when a friend referred Matthew Fitzgibbons CD "Patriot" to my attention I listened intently. Listening both as a musician, and as an "Australian American".

The CD approaches the unnecessary mistrust and divide I had perceived in US political culture from an historical viewpoint. It reminds Americans that their nation is the fruit of one of the greatest documents ever written (the Constitution)and the sacrifice of previous generations of Americans who held the spirit and intent of the Constitution to be both a guiding light and a unifying force against all enemies.

As a result, the CD is a refreshing, optimistic view of America's future (a nice change!)by urging Americans to re-acquaint themselves with the fundamental values, aspirations and ideals that built such a great nation in such a short time.

Musically, "Patriot" contains some highly competent orchestration and outstanding composition. "For The Heroes" is just one damn fine song! Other tracks are easy to consume and, as a vehicle for the message therein, could stand alone melodically with even the most banal of lyrics. With the political philosophy carried they become powerful tools to inspire and unite. A common-sensical and historical approach to a national surfeit of self-reproachment.

This is an important CD. It is a pity it is only being heard of by "word-of-mouth". The Patriot Music website is also worth a visit."
