"Matt Wilson was the primary writer for the late great Minneapolis band Trip Shakespeare. If you ever feel sad, alone, and confused this album will speak to you in a powerful way. Just to give you an idea, there is actually a musician's credit for "abyss noises." Trip Shakespeare's music was indescribably important to me when I first heard it at 19 years old and this album is sort of an adult version of that. If you like the Beatles and Beach Boys and strong melodies, vocal harmonies, and mind-bending lyrics generally appeal to you, then you should get this disc. It is his only solo effort to date and I wish there were more.

Um, incidentally this review was written for an album called "Burnt, White, and Blue" by Minneapolis, Minnesota's Matt Wilson. (Not New York's jazz drummer with the same name.) I don't know how amazon's page here changed to this "Hobex" thing. So just to reiterate, I highly recommend seeking out 1998's "Burnt, White and Blue" by Matt Wilson."
