Synopsis
Product Description Matt Quarterman is a bold new singer/songwriter who fuses poetic lyrics and unique music into original, creative songs. Matt lived most of his life in Portugal, Ukraine and Mississippi, and the result of all that traveling is music that is spiritual, thought-provoking and intensely personal. "Misplaced Americans", his debut CD, is made up of 8 songs ranging from the gentle folk of "Pushkin Street" to the post-modern rock of "Radiohead Fan" and the raucous alt-country "Closed Down." With instrumentation that includes cello, strings, mandolin, Dobro and accordion, "Misplaced Americans" is a cohesive album that takes the listener on a journey and asks hard questions about nationality, time, culture and faith. CD ReviewsLovely Debut calixita | Boston, MA | 10/06/2006 (4 out of 5 stars) "Matt Quarterman's 'Misplaced Americans' is a lovely musical debut. The eight songs don't fit neatly into just one musical genre, ranging from the electric pop of "Radiohead Fan" to the delicate folk/rock sounds of "The Shore" to the toe-tapping Americana of "Closed Down". Running constant throughout are Matt's clean, strong vocals and heartfelt lyrics. His songs speak of nostalgia and wandering and occasional flashes of dark humor. I got a kick out of the description of a neighborhood Burger King - "It's not a place I like to eat but there's something about the smell of meat...". Musically, the album is very accomplished, with Matt handling many of the instruments himself. I look forward to more from this singer-songwriter."
