Matt Brown proves to be a compelling multi-instrumentalist and singer with the release of this, his second album. Having established his credibility as a traditional fiddler with Lone Prairie, Matt now makes a strong statement as a solo performer. He plays plenty of fiddle on this album, with a great variety of material from sources like Burl Hammons and Hiram Stamper. Also included on Falls of Richmond is a spooky rendition of Shady Grove, which Matt finger-picks on the banjo. The songs are If The River Was Whiskey, Train 45, Shortenin' Bread, and Cripple Creek. Alternating between fiddle, banjo, and guitar, he accompanies himself with taste and inspiration.
