Synopsis

Album Description
Their name says it all ? Masters At Work. For over a decade, "Little Louie" Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez have shepherded dance music down new paths with their inventive production style and imaginative feel for different musical forms. The two native New Yorkers have amassed an overwhelming body of work in that time, one that includes hundreds of original productions, remixes and side projects, redefining the way we think of music in clubs. Vega and Gonzalez defiantly mix everything they can find ? house, hip-hop, funk, disco, Latin, African and jazz ? into a universal groove. And in doing so, MAW has become a cultural mélange unto itself, emblematic of the multicultural society in which we live.

CD Reviews

Missunderstood.

"How can people get this albums ranking down to 3!!! Funkyhouse Hed Kandi fans the lot of them!!. Stick to listening to Eric Prydz and Stonebridge.!!

If they actually took the trouble to read the interviews they might see where MAW are coming from with this comp. They wanted to take it back to the days of mad mix tapes and at the same educate us with classic 94 house and some modern new cuts (a big challenge to take on).

CD1 is one of the greatest mixes that came out in 2004!! Mr V is the new lick!! and the Dope goes back medley is the pinnacle of this CD.

CD2 slows down a bit admittedly but you have to be patient with it and it will grow on you.

Excellent KD and LV."
An ESSENTIAL for every self-proclaimed, unashamed HOUSEHEAD.

"I bought this CD over a month ago and haven't even gotten a chance to listen to the second OR third discs all the way through because the first one is LOCKIN LIKE THAT. I certainly don't understand less than a stellar review, but please take my word for it...out of all those tracks you will find SOMETHING that you like (if not become dependent upon), and it is well worth the buy. :)"
Excellent CD

"I dont know about that previous review because cd1 is probably the best mixed cd i have heard all year. Hard post-nuyorican sound yes and I agree the second cd and third cd is stuff we all heard over and over again. However cd1 makes this 3cd set worthwhile and for those who are new to MAW you will enjoy cd2 and cd3. In the age of progressive, hard house and trance this cd is a wanted relief from a constant dosage of this music in the clubs. This cd takes you back to how house used to be."
