CD Reviews

Weight - Speed / 10 = Mass

"Mass' self titled debut c.d. is nothing less than perfect. This German three piece band defines the word heavy. Ten songs, 59 minutes of gut wrenching, slow and low metal (for lack of a better word),that will leave you salivating for more. If this doesn't convince you, a comparison is in order. Unfortunately, with the exception of Cavity (also on Man's Ruin Records) there is no one out there that comes close."

"Every now and then you run across something off the beaten path that is genuinely good, and Mass/Mass is one of these. Unfortunately out of print now with the demise of Man's Ruin, this album is an excellent Doom/Stoner metal treat. The music is low and slow, slightly hypnotic with the occaisional "spacey" background notes. It's good, moderately paced, strong music with a full, fuzzed-out sound. The singer is generally monotonic and slides right into the music, sometimes contributing to a psychadelic feel. "The Life Song" stood out as an exception to this, but otherwise a consistant, solid album.

I'd recommend this to fans of Kyuss, Sleep and Black Sabbath."
If this were any heavier.....!!!!!!

"If this were any heavier it would implode into a MASS so dense that a blackhole would form. I cannot get over this album and thankfully don't have to. I would love to find more of their stuff if that's at all possible. If you wnat to hear something that is sooo heavy that it makes you feel as though you are walking through a puddle of tar at the pace of stoned snails than this is a must own. I love all things musically heavy that weigh down on you like a ten ton anvil."
