CD Reviews

Hauntingly beatiful and moody

"I heard Mary Beth's music for the first time in an episode of Dawsons Creek where the beatiful "Hold On" was played right at the end of the episode. After finding out about Mary Beth's music at the Dawsons Creek Music website, I immediately ordered the cd.I mainly listen to electronic music like Prodigy and Aphex Twin and some rap like Ice-T, House of Pain and Dr Dre, so an album like Mary Beth's isn't an immediate choice for me.Here lies the beauty of her music, it's captivating and so moody that I believe it will please many peoples musical tastes. Certainly, this is THE music to listen to when your heart gets stomped on :)"Hold On" is a stunning track with great melody and "Aftershocks" and "Two Satellites" are the other stand-out tracks on an excellent album that in many parts beats other genre artists like Sarah McLachlan in terms of the production and lyrics.Beatiful stuff, I strongly recommend the Supernatural album."
Honesty and emotion in silky vocals and ivory passion...

"
It takes a lot for a female singer to win my heart. I love voices like Sarah McLachlan's, but I also look for songs that are more than the latest pop fad. I look for songs that touch my heart, grab my emotions and keep me in touch with LIFE. So I don't have a Sarah McLachlan album, because only a few of her songs have that kind of power (in my opinion). But now there's Mary Beth. Her songwriting reminds me of Jann Arden's...dreadfully honest, flirtatious, romantic, reflective. Not only does she have the songwriting talent that touches the heart, but her voice is just too good to be true. She has the perfect combination of lyrics, vocals, and style. Her piano playing reminds me of Jim Brickman's - full of passion with such a range of sound and feeling.Oh, and if you are more of a pop listener, this album is still for you. There are some great choruses and rhythms here. A few of the best (and most romantic) songs are "Two Satellites," "Hold On," and "Better Than Anyone." But the power is in the reflection - this is music that makes you stare into space and feel something good, even if you're remembering something painful. That's art!"
There are not enough words to describe Mary Beth's brillianc

"I bought this album a few months back and since then it has become one of my best friends. The amazing power of Mary Beth's voice sends shivers down my spine. It's clarity is a rarely found thing and can only be touched by the likes of Sharah Mclachlan and Tara Mclean. If you like these artists you will love Mary Beth. Her lyrics are the most honest I have ever come across but enchantingly simple unlike the more complex work of the above artists. The highlights of the album are the sensual 'Too Much'too the chilled 'Spark'not forgetting the stunning opening bars of 'better then anyone' where she simpily sings 'This trinity it gets to me, missing you, aching for quiet'. Mary Beth has put simple, amazing poetry to music. She will continue to be one of my favorite artists ever!"
