'ruler' is amazing. 'roads, where we're going we don't need roads' is amazing, (as well as a 'back to the future' referenc, so more kudos to marnie!). i want people to buy this. i want people to enjoy this. i want her to make 50 more cd's like this." In other words, Stern's singing voice might take a little getting used to. And the appeal of some songs is a little more subtle than the out-front awesomeness of, say, "Ruler." But good things come to those who listen to CDs on repeat. My only beef is that they record as "Marnie Stern," when I would've hoped it would be something more like "The Marnie Stern Experience," or "Marnie Stern & the Supreems." Because while Stern's doubtlessly the main attraction, her rhythm section deserves recognition. Or at least her drummer does. Dude kills." |
