CD Reviews

Pay a buck more and get an incredible "Speedway at Nazareth"
Matthew Drummy | Vermont, USA | 12/30/2002
(3 out of 5 stars)

"What's here is fine: the superb "Why Aye Man," the neat, biting "Small Potatoes," and a pleasant version of "So Far Away." But another version of this single, Amazon #B00006JY8O, gives you the same three songs PLUS a truly astonishing live version of "Speedway at Nazareth"--for only a dollar more. That version of "Speedway" is transcendent stuff, Knopfler and band in another realm, total intensity and commitment. The performance there is an example of what sets Mark Knopfler apart from virtually all other rock performers. So my advice is to pay the extra dollar for the extra song--it's well worth it, IMHO."
