This movie GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES deserves a soundtrack.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This movie GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES IS ONE OF THE BEST MUSICALS

EVER MADE, DIRECTED BY THE GREAT HOWARD HAWKS, STARRING MARILYN

MONROE AND JANE RUSSELL, WITH GREAT MUSIC BY JULES STYNE AND

HOAGY CARMICHAEL, AND GREAT SONGS, TWO LITTLE GIRLS FROM LITTLE

ROCK, AIN'T THERE ANYONE HERE FOR LOVE, BYE BYE BABY, WHEN LOVE

GOES WRONG, DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND, TWO LITTLE GIRLS

FROM LITTLE ROCK (REPRISE), AND THEN THE FOLLOWING DELETED SONGS

FOUR FRENCH DANCES ( SUR LE BALCON, SOL TAIRE, PARLEZ D'AFFAIRES,LE TENTATEUR,

THE WALTZ FROM DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND,,AND INCIDENTAL MUSIC.

IT WOULD MAKE A GREAT DVD. IN 1953 MGM ISSUED A TWO RECORD EP

FROM THE MOVIE. YOU CAN FIND IT LISTED OFTEN ON EBAY, BUT IT

IS NOT A COMPLETE SOUNDTRACK. IT HAS A NICE COVER OF JANE RUSSEL

AND MARILYN MONROE.

sOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, SEE TO IT THAT A SOUNDTRACK OF THIS FILM

IS RELEASED.

MANY WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

In 1953 MGM issued a soundtrack EP on 2 45 RPM records. To see

a photo click here:[...].

JPG

That soundtrack contained the following songs:

1)A litle girl from little rock ( Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe)

2)Diamonds are a girl's best friend (Marilyn Monroe)

3)Ain't there anyone here for love ( Jane Russell)

4)When love goes wrong (Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe)

5) Bye Bye Baby (Jane Russell)

6) Bye Bye Baby ( Marilyn Monroe)

There is enough music in this movie to warrant a full CD Soundtrack. Take a look:

1) A Little Girl from Little Rock ( Opening) ( Jane and Marilyn)

2) Instrumental interlude ( theme songs from the movie)

3) A little girl from little rock (Conclusion) (Jane and Marilyn)

4) Bye Bye Baby ( Jane Russell and Chorus)

5) Bye Bye Baby ( Marilyn Monroe solo)

6) Aint there anyone here for love ( Jane Russell)

7) Lorelei dances with Mr. Piggy ( Instrumental )

8) When Love goes wrong ( Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe)

9) When the wild women go in swimming down in Bimini Bay. ( Jane

Russell and Marilyn Monroe on a staircase) ( song was deleted)

10)Four French Dances. Sur le balcon

Le tentateur

Sol taire

Parlez d'affaires

(This scene was also deleted from the movie)

11)Waltz/Diamonds are a girls best friend ( Marilyn Monroe & Chorus of dancers).

12) Diamonds are a girls best friend ( Parody of MM by Jane Russell)

13) A little girl from little rock (Closing number) (Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell)

14) Down Boy . ( song written for Marilyn but deleted from the

movie).

15) Incidental music.- Marilyn dancing

16 A little gitl from little Rock ( bonus) A capella version by

Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe included in the soundtrack of the

diamond collection

In the movie Gentlemen prefer Blondes, the songs are also used

as instrumental backgrounds. In the Paris Arrival taxi cab scene

you hear the music from Two little girls from Little Rock. At other times you hear as instrumental backgrounds Bye Bye Baby,

and Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend. In the scene where Lorelei

( Marilyn) is dancing with Piggy, you hear a latin flavored

instrumental. This must be the music of the song " When the wild,

wild women go swiming in Bimini bAY", a song deleted from the movie.
