(4 out of 5 stars)

"For the first time ever Marillion allowed remixers access to the original tapes from the recording of an album. The album was "This Strange Engine" and the group chosen was The Positive Light. The remixes turn the songs from prog-rock to something more clubby and dance-like. The styles of music go together like the ingredients of trail mix. On there own, they taste good but mixed all together they are filling and satisfy many different types of taste all in one bag.

Marillion played the result before the "This Strange Engine" concerts. The songs were familiar but not obviously recognizable. Once we got our hands on the disc we played it over and over. Positive Light has taken great songs and looked at them with new eyes. They tease out the essence of a song and expand that essence into a new work. My favorites are "Estonia" and "Face 1004." To me, these are the best examples of what I'm talking. Get Marillion's original and this CD. They compliment and raise each other to further heights of glory. I've had it for years and still listen to it on a regular basis. My only complaint is that it isn't a two CD set and ALL the songs from "This Strange Engine" got the Positive Light treatment. What a joy that CD would be!!"
