Synopsis

Product Description

From the gin joints of New York's Greenwich Village to the watering holes of London's basement beer halls and all points in between have emerged once unknown artists as diverse as Tony Bennett, Harry
Connick, Jr., Jamie Cullem, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Al Jarreau,
Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand and The Beatles. They all started in dusty, noisy saloons. Add Marcus Simeone - with his hauntingly beautiful vocals, who, after recording over 300 demos for celebrated and unknown songwriters' and singers, has built a solid reputation in the industry as a singer's singer. With his ethereal, multi-octave voice, perfect pitch and flawless phrasing, he has emerged as a contemporary vocalist with few peers.

After a string of disappointments from record producers and companies that even folded, this album had to happen. I'm happy I was able to help. Marcus is a unique vocal talent who deserves wider recognition.
From the start, whether he is singing Jazz, Pop, Soul, R & B or standards, he is able to create vocal images that are masterpieces in each idiom. That is his gift.

This soulful, emotionally charged album possesses an astonishing technical facility fused with an emotional depth that is rare. His musical dynamics reveal an awesome command of phrasing, texture and rhythm sounding more like a virtuoso jazz musician. While many have tried to pigeon-hole him, Marcus Simeone's voice that defies comparison and is at home in all genres of music.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Here is a live recording, of an eclectic mix of songs. Marcus Simeone is a dynamic vocalist who cannot be pigeonholed into a specific musical genre. His love of various types of music shines through on each selection. He takes popular songs & makes them his own. A perfect example of this is Gilbert O'Sullivan's 70's pop song "Alone Again (Naturally)." Marcus turns this into a moving ballad that will give the listener goosebumps. It's hard to believe it's the same song. Another favorite is "Dream A Little Dream of Me." This song is usually identified with Cass Elliott or The Mills Brothers. Marcus does it as a duet with another talented singer named John DePalma. They compliment each other with their different vocal styles. Marcus also pays homage to Motown with a soulful rendition of "I Second That Emotion." Another standout is the medley "A Child Is Born"/"Strange Fruit." The messages conveyed in the lyrics of these songs are timeless. Particularly, "Strange Fruit" which is as relevent today as when it was written. "Brazil" livens things up with it's exotic flair. There is also a beautiful version of "Daydreams", which was recorded by Jane Olivor, on her live albums "In Concert" (1982) & "Safe Return" (2004). If you're a fan of Jazz, pop, soul, cabaret, ballads, or male vocalists this CD will appeal to you. Because Marcus is so diversified he excels in each genre."
