"This is such an unusual recording. One would think a must for all students of the marimba... yes, but also for the large audience besides marimba players - this is magic music making. Makoto's virtuosity is astonishing, the range of touch felty, harsh, tender, windy, muffled, present - it's all there. The genre of the instrument and the music is such that most of the effect is based on cumulation, the hypnotic melting of the senses and suspention of time and place, one piece after another lure me deeper into this world. What Makoto Nakura achieves with his mallets equals any ten fingers on the piano."
