Synopsis

Album Description
As they have since 1991, The Makers continue to push boundaries with their unique blend of sexy, explosive, end of the world rock 'n' roll. Their music, loosely described as The Punk Rock Rolling Stones meet The Stooges, will convert even the most jaded of listeners. They've directly influenced bands such as The Mooney Suzuki and The Hives, and have been admired by Joey Ramone, Marilyn Manson, Jello Biafra, and Billy Childish. The band is getting back to its roots with this collection of re-recorded past favorites and unreleased gems from '91 to '98. Legendary producer Jack Endino has captured their raw live essence in this 16-song rock 'n' roll onslaught.

What every "Garage" Band Tries To Be!
Richard Larson | Columbus, OH | 12/20/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Let's be straight here - these guys are, and have been - the real deal! They were overlooked when everyone was wearing flannel shirts and baggy jeans. And now that "Garage" is the new in-thing, everyone who took their cues from the Makers is somehow getting popular. Well, it's time for the Makers to stand up and take a bow for single-handedly FORMING (if not creating) an entire genre. And these are the songs that every popular garage band aspires to write. Every old song sounds refreshed. And every new song sounds amazing. If you only have enough money to buy one album your entire life - this is it!"
Old School Makers Revamped!
K. Christians | United States | 11/29/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Where do I start? This is why people love the Makers. Some of the best old school Makers songs with some new hits as well. And the best part is - you've never heard those old Makers songs sound this good! It's a total party album. Not to turn a blind eye to their progress, but not to forget the past either...the Makers have totally reclaimed their throne as the kings of rock and roll! A few slight changes to some of the songs - they've never sounded better. 'Sad Little Bug' is an amazing version. And there's never been this much electricity and intensity in a Makers album - ever!"
100% ROCK 'N ROLL FROM THE KINGS OF GARAGE
Guy Clark | Seattle | 12/07/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"You can't accuse The Makers of following the garage-rock trend when it was The Makers that created the trend. There would be no Hives, Mooney Suzuki, Jet, or White Stripes if it wasn't for The Makers. Their profound influence on the current music scene is well documented. Read any Mooney Suzuki interview and you'll find that The Makers were their greatest influence. Many years ago, I remember seeing The White Stripes open for The Makers in Detroit and they praised The Makers for getting them on the bill! Back in the early 90's when The Makers were playing garage-rock and dressing in suits, everyone else was wearing flannel and listening to Pearl Jam. The Makers' previous years were a departure from the early-sound but it was hardly disastrous. Rolling Stone gave "Rock Star God" a 4-star rave review along with every other magazine in the land. Many of the old-school purists hated it, but I'm glad the band had the guts to try something different. The new record is a wet dream for fans of the old Makers sound - raw, unrelenting, and fun. It just blazes from start to finish. Are they hopping-on the garage trend? No way. Are they paying tribute to themselves? Absolutely. The Makers RULE."
