Words that will carry you to a night with pink windows
Hussain M Buhlaigah | Jeddah, Saudi Arabia | 10/10/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Mageda is a great Arabic female singer from Lebanon and she can be considered the greatest now after Fairouz. And this album "Words" or "Kalimat" -in Arabic- is for most of her fans is the best of hers ever. The album contains 6 great songs, the first one has the same name as the album "Kalimat" and it is taken form a very famous poem for "Nizar Qbani" Syrian poet. It's music is so classic and is perfect for romantic times and Mageda really did one of her most gorgeous performance of all time in this song. The ending of this song is really something original and beautiful and express a lot of this lady capabilities in singing."Listen To My heart" is the second song in the album and if I am not mistaken... it was sang originally by her late father and it's music is composed by him. Another great love song expressing the Arabic women need for the man to do the first move although her heart already did it long time ago. It's kind of fast music and some really romantic usage of different music instruments and styles. In the third song "The Days", piano rules and take you in a dream boat to the moon when the rhythm goes up until it reaches its peak at the middle of the song. This song can show how much a lover see her man as everything to a point the days are worthless without him. A nice song... but it is not my favorite... I like the beginning most and it really take me far in joy.I don't have a lot to say about the forth song "You and I" because I don't really listen to it often... but it is really good and happy song with happy music all its 10 minutes time. Not surprising... this is a another romantic songs expressing the love... the unlimited love of an Arabic women to her man.The fifth song "Everyone Sings as He Feels" became one of the all time Arabic classic songs and it's music is taken from some kind of an ancient Arabic style that was used to entertain the Arab and Islamic world rulers. This song is kind of really for the ones like Arabic music and want to have some quality time. The last song "Beirut: The Mistress of The World" is again written by "Nizar Qbany" and it was written during very difficult time for Beirut the capital of Lebanon. Nizar make one condition before letting Mageda sing it... he asked her to make nothing joyful in this song because it is really a scream for Beirut to come a life again. You will immediately notice that the song is so strongly will shock the listener. The lyrics is so strong and express how Lebanese and Arabs really love this city and feel so bad because the participate in its distruction."
