Symphonic metal masterpiece

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Swedish symphonic metal act Majestic have released their second full length release titled "Trinity Overture". Those familiar with the work of Symphony X will immediately find themselves experiencing a sense of deja vu as the similarity in both style and sound hit the listener between the eyes. However, it would be too simplistic to catergorise them as simply a clone. There are also very definite links to artists such as Stratovarius, Yngwie Malmsteen, Royal Hunt and Nation in that they make great use of classical influences in their music. When I say this I am not simply referring to the current trend of using a symphonic sound to mask what is essentially three chord rubbish. The classical influence is evident in the whole theme of the composition. "Trinity Overture" has a great overall sound with strong production values. There is without doubt a great deal of talent possessed by the individual band members which shines through. The vocals are very strong along with the prominent presence of keyboards in the guise of songwriter and virtuoso Richard Andersson. This is an excellent album from beginning to end with a great deal of consistency right the way through. You will not find yourself constantly skipping tracks. If you are a fan of the above named artists, I would definately give this CD a try."
