Synopsis

Album Description
This is fresh and highly enjoyable Cajun music that offers more than a few surprises. The Magnolia Sisters may be one of the only all-woman Cajun bands, but what distinguishes them most may be their repertoire, which includes not only seldom-heard dance tunes from Cajun and Creole tradition, but beautifully-sung ballads that reveal a side of Cajun music not often heard these days. Ann Savoy, Jane Vidrine, Anya Schoenegge and Lisa Trajan Reed represent the very best that modern Cajun music has to offer.

Will's Thoughts
Willard E. Bonvillian | Baton Rouge, Louisiana | 03/09/2006

"As A member of the Cajun French Music Association and a Cajun dancer. I can reccommend this CD for dancing or just listening pleasure. Ann Savoy has been a favorite of mine since the first time I heard her with Michael Doucet and Her husband Marc. Ann has done a lot to help preserve the Cajun Culture and Dance in Louisiana. Thanks Ann!!!!!!"
A Cajun must have, with a different flair.

"Every Cajun band seems to have their own versions of the classics. This all ladies band's, hang with the best of them. What's a bit different? The title holds the clue,"Le Boogie Woogie." Think the big band era of the 1940s; though the Magnolia sisters is an average size Cajun Band, their playing of the Boogie Woogies hold up to the sound of those big bands and with the Cajun Flair. Also of note, they do Cajun Ballads and a couple are done acapella and have a very haunting presentation. I also recommend, this for any one the enjoys collecting various ethnic music."
