CD Reviews

He should be mad
Nuisance | Miami | 12/08/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Mad Skillz is one of the industry's most slept on MCs. Rawkus should have put this album when they said they would(somewhere in 2002) but they didnt. Shame. I was able to get a copy of this album and was impressed by it.

Tracklisting:

1. On A Good Foot

2. S.K.I.L.L.Z.

3. Wave Your Hands Feat Musiq Soulchild

4. Imagine

5. PA To VA feat Pretty Ugly

6. Only Get One feat Aaries

7. Skillz VS Shaqwan

8. Suzie Q

9. Ya'll See Me feat Pretty Willie

10. Crew Deep feat Missy Elliot

11. Show Love

12. Ambition

13. Its Like That feat Danja Mowf

14. Blow

As some of you might know Crew Deep feat Missy Elliot was Skillz first single for this album. Imagine is a nice and creative track. In the track, Skillz tells a story about him killing his own brother but later admits that he lied like most of these rappers do. Point well taken.

Wave Your Hands and Only Get One are great tracks too. Only Get One is a touching tribute to his mother. Skillz disses Shaq(who shouldnt be within free throw range of a microphone)in Skillz Vs Shaqwan and Ambition which is a hilarious skit where a middle aged woman pleading with Shaq to answer his phone. PA To VA feat the obscenely underrated Pretty Ugly is great collabo. There are two songs I dont like: Ya'll See Me feat Pretty Willie is wack and Its Like That is suspect at best.

Conclusion: Mad Skillz' I Aint Mad No More is a dope album that should have been released. It amazes me when an industry sees no problem with releasing Shaq and a Dione Sanders album but real MCs like Skilz, Rah Digga, Saigon etc stay on the shelf. It shows that even back then that hip hop was purposely destroyed by sackless weasels unworthy of respect. If you can find this album than by all means get it. Support real hip hop and not this sewage that is out now posing as hip hop.

Standouts: IMAGINE, S.K.I.L.L.Z., WAVE YOUR HANDS, ONLY GET ONE, SKILLZ VS SHAQWAN, BLOW, PA TO VA and SHOW LOVE."
