"Your Blood is Spilling, the Sight is Thrilling!"
Gunther Haagendazs | Up High in the Trees | 11/07/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Wow, the music here easily deserves five stars. But this re-release is absolutely terrible! If you just want the music and don't care about anything else, then you can go ahead and purchase this Sinister Slaughter/Behind the Wall of Sleep re-release; but those who are die hard Macabre fans and want the lyrics and so forth, they will be disappointed to know that since Nuclear Blast changed the packaging from a Jewel case to a Digipak, there is no lyric insert. The artwork is also butchered. Nuclear blast thought it would have been a good idea to splice the artwork together but it honestly looks hideous. And lets not forget that that Nuclear blast even misspelled the friggin' EP name wrong as Behind the WALLS of Sleep. If you have read any interviews, you'll see that Macabre themselves are very disappointed with Nuclear Blast's cheap attempt at re-releasing these classic albums. I suggest that you hunt down a used copy of the originals with the lyrics, they are helpful in order to figure out what the lyrics are and make the music more enjoyable.

And here is my response to that "music fan". You are an idiot. Plain and simple. Macabre is not worshiping these serial killers and mass murderers, they are writing songs about these murderers. There is a big difference. Never at any point does Macabre state something like "Ted Bundy Rocks and John Wayne Gacy is my Idol!" Think of the families? Are you meaning to tell me that no one can write a song about something that is true? Do you think people shouldn't write songs about war either? That has real people dying too. Are you one of the people who think that violence shouldn't be sung about at all and that we should all be listening to family friendly music and live in Magic Lollypop Mario Mushroom land? Next time think real hard about what you're reviewing before you decide to type out your thoughts.
