This is the album that puts Lurrie up there with the "bluesmen." You could make that same argument about any of his recordings really, but this album, for me, is the one that makes him shine.
His guitar is all 3 Kings, Earl Hooker, Magic Sam and a few others as well. His style is that distinctive. His singing has never sounded better. As we lose a Gatemouth, Little Milton, Detroit Junior, or R.L. Burnside and I'm sure too many others I don't know about, it is important to know the blues is still capable of producing "masters" and it is no exxageration to call Lurrie a master." |
