CD Reviews

A nice debut effort - 4 stars!

"A very nice pop/rock debut by Lucy Woodward. The best songs on the album are: Dumb Girls, Is This Hollywood and Always Something. I actually think she could squeeze two more Top 40 hits from this debut. Her songs have nice guitar licks and just enough chord changes/modulations to make everyone happy. Her lyrics are simplistic, but they match nicely with the actual album content (not a bad thing).I would be a shame if this album didn't got Platinum and a REAL SHAME if it didn't go Gold."
Fantastica!

"Lucy Woodward's album is a hands-down winner. I don't know exactly what I was expecting when I purchased it. "Dumb Girls" was constantly on my mind, so I picked it up and listened. It didn't grip me, not right away. "Dumb Girls" was still the best song on the album.

It grows on you, though. Song by song, you'll discover the range of this girl's talent and catchiness. The next song I grew to enjoy, "Blindsided", is a fun enough song, but Im not sure why I grew to enjoy it. Probably one of the most mediocre songs on the album.

"Trust Me (You Don't Want To See This)" is an AMAZING song! I can't get over it. It's funky, interesting, and very clever. The guitar in the beginning is what drew me in. See, a bit of background about ME (which won't really help you understand the music any) is that I listen to music while I sleep. Usually while I'm in the process of drifting towards being awake, if there's a song on I don't know, I'll typically love it. I don't know why I do this, but it happens quite frequently. It happened for this song, and now I am addicted to it. She is basically warning a potential lover to cover his eyes while she sows her wild oats. It's a fun song!

"Is This Hollywood" is my current Lucy Woodward trip. This song is powerful in it's own right. She moves across country and disjoints her life in an effort to get over a scorned love. The chorus is beautiful, haunting, and addictive.

To be honest, I haven't given the rest of the album a whole lot of listen because I dwell on those songs. I guarantee that I will soon find another song to love, just give me time.

Oh, and yeah...pick this up."
SIMPLY AMAZING!

"When i first heard the hit single "DUMB GIRLS" i wasn't really into it. But little by little i loved it! It was radically smoothing but yet so upbeat and strong! Then on April 1, 2003 my favorite cd came out! WOW! That's all i can say! This cd is just so amazing, i have heard this cd ever since everyday. And i have heard it in its entirety like 10 times. It's a really good cd! There has never been a momne thtat is dull on this cd. Personally my favorite track is "IS THIS HOLLYWOOD" but i can't really certify that beacue i love all of the songs. Every song just hooks you from the beginning and just marvels you and consumes you. Let's just hope that it goes platinum and that she comes out with a follow-up cd. Let's hope the rest of the songs get noticed!!!!!!!!!!!My ratings:
1) DUMB GIRLS 5/5
2) BLINDSIDED 6/5 (THE NEXT SINGLE)
3) TRUST ME(YOU DON'T WANNA SEE THIS) 5/5
4) IS THIS HOLLYWOOD 6/5
5) THE TROUBLE WITH ME 4/5
6) WHAT'S GOOD FOR ME 5/5
7) STANDING 5/5
8) THE BREAKDOWN 4/5
9) ALWAYS SOMETHING 6/5
10) GETTIN IT ON 5/5
11) DONE 6/5*her three ballads (SOMETHING ALWAYS, STANDING, AND DONE) are all amazing, i am never really attached to ballads but i am soooo attached to these beacuse they are just so beautiful and awesome. i have never seen such ballads so beautifully written*"
