CD Reviews

Cubáname will thrill any salsa newbie or aficinado!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Cubáname, Lucrecia's fifth and latest contribution to the already sumptuous world of cuban music, is one of the best salsa albums I have ever heard. Period. Hip, soulful, energtic and imaginative, this album will have you doing everything from swinging whatever God gave you to sighing in wistful rememberance of all that a good bolero can inspire. Drum and horns-leaden tracks like "Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao" "Cubáname" and "De Sol a Sol" kick and bounce your hips as only decent rumba can, while melodiously blissful "sons" such as "Santa Tierra" do well to provide you with reflective, relaxing, elegant and inspiring moments. I was especially pleased with the playfulness of Lucrecia's compositions, and her powerful voice makes for excellent delivery of such divine material. My already fabulous summer in Spain was made all the richer by the discovery of this amazing "salsera" and I highly recommend the Lucrecia experience for anyone who is starting (or enriching) a marvelous Cuban music collection!"
