"If you were there nothing can ever recreate the total trainwreck brilliance of a Chumps show, but getting everything they released is as close as it'll get. I can't recommend this enough if you like raw, no holds barred Rock 'N Roll. One of my all time favorite Austin bands and with all the amazing bands from my hometown, that's saying a LOT. Imagine yourself standing in the middle of the train tracks as a freight train comes hurtling toward you threatening to jump out of the tracks at any moment and you have some idea of the impossible to look away from spectacle that is/was The Chumps.
Music-wise, they sounded like some sort of twisted love child of The Dead Boys and The Germs on a more Garage level. For me they were always the sound of the world falling apart. They're the greatest Austin Punk band nobody outside of Texas ever heard of and that's a shame. Hopefully this collection of their records will finally garner them the recognition they deserve, although I'd be surprised if they cared.
By the way, Rock City Rejects is the best song ever written about Austin, period."
