Hagen's 3rd independent release shows her getting comfortable with her self-carved niche. Her music falls so completely between country, folk and rock, that many have described her as the genre bridge. Although an independent, her music gets airplay on college stations as well as country, AC and European markets. This CD features 11 fine cuts where she efficiently and smoothly writes of small town, every day life to complex feelings and ideas and conveys them in a vocal brimming with emotion. Her vocal style has been compared to Mary Chapin Carpenter, Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders fame, and folk legend Nanci Griffith. In fact, 4 of the songs on the CD are produced by Griffith's Blue Moon Orchestra member Pat McInerney. Hagen takes us through slide guitar blues/rock, to traditional country folk-flavored ballads and stuck-in-your-head melodic mid-tempos - all held together with her masterful knack for melody and groove and sealed with rich-toned vocal.
