Recorded between 1979 and 1980 as Guitar Roberts; Loren Mazzacane issued volumes one through eight of this set on his Dagget Records label. These LP's slipped into oblivion when the distributor went bankrupt and asked Loren Mazzacane to come and pick up his records. Since Loren had no means of transportation and the records had not sold, Loren tossed them into the dumpster behind the warehouse rather than drag them back to his home. Since that day, with very few copies still in existence, these records have become legendary. Remastered by Jim O'Rourke, these eight volumes of acoustic guitar improvisation have been grouped with yet another volume of unissued material for this reissue. This four cd box is handsomely packed in an analog reel to reel box which has been hand assembled with story-telling liner notes by Loren Mazzacane and Byron Coley. As an added bonus these box sets, due to the fact that they have been hand assembled, are an extremely limited edition. The music on these four cd's reflects a younger Loren Mazzacane in the process of assembling his musical vocabulary; using the interplay between the sympathetic sound of bent notes and haunting mournful vocal lines to create sounds which surpass what is often thought of as new or avant-garde music. It is this music upon which Loren Mazzacanes career has been built and it is this music which has been sought by those that now. Celebrate the beginnings of Loren's musical vision as we celebrate his fiftieth birthday.
