CD Reviews

A great singer. A great voice. A great album.

"It's incredible how so many great voices from the 70's ended up (sadly) quite forgotten from the public. Loleatta Holloway is one of those voices who's superior to most divas we hear today. This is the reissue of a 1978 album called QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, when Disco was at the height of its power and Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia reigned supreme among producers. And on top of it all, this was another album mixed by the legendary Tom Moulton.

I bought this CD because of Loleatta's tour de force rendition of CATCH ME ON THE REBOUND - a great song impossible not to dance to. On this CD you will find not only the original album version (6m08s), but also the full 12'' mix with 10m47s... and it is stunning!

But Loleatta's great voice brings sheer brilliance to all the other songs. MAMA DON'T - PAPA DON'T is another gem full of soul. She pulls any Disco song out of the ordinary.

Salsoul Records really made magic with Loleatta. This is one of those albums where everything worked. If you like a great voice, great Disco and you are familiar with names like Vince Montana, Tom Moulton, Salsoul Orchestra and The Philadelphia Sound... get this CD ASAP.

This is one of those CDs to treasure."

"People Don't understand music,Loleatta Holloway put so much energy in her singing, till it makes me upset that she is not known today. I live in Jacksonville Florida, they don't know her or Salsoul music. I discover her through The Salsoul Orchestra song titled "Runaway" in 2005. I started to chase her work though Salsoul and the late great Norman Harris.I'm only 37 years old, I know what real music is,and supposed to feel like. That what this album is. You won't regret it. I't worth every dollar and cents. I just fell in love with Salsoul music period. It's not on the radio at all in Jacksonville florida,I can't get enough Playing Loleatta Holloway's "Catch Me On The Rebound" 10 min. long. DYNAMITE!!!!!! Till That's becoming my phase to everybody "CATCH ME ON THE REBOUND"!!!!!!"
