"What could be more fun than a disc of band music about trains? There is the great band standard "Rolling Thunder" (Henry Fillmore) and several marches that promise to be great fun. (The Toledo Blade, The B&O March, Little Red Caboose, Field & Concert Novelty for example).I was really looking forward to this album when I saw it. The circus band sounds underrehearsed. There's some great music on this disc--little-played, but not worth investing money. Mr. Phillips has another disc with his Circus Band out--I hope it is better prepared than those on this disc. The notes center around railroad history, and in that regard they are very interesting. I was hoping more for info on the composers of these marches, galops, and screamers. But that's nitpicking. I would just like to know who people like C. Carlton and D. Moffitt are."
