CD Reviews

The BEST new band you haven't heard of........
Kirk Steinhaus | Michigan | 03/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In a time when so many new releases are nothing more than a re-hash of everything we've heard before, Lo Fi Scorpio is charging ahead with a sound unlike anything you've heard. There are very few musicians who create "new" music, music that must be heard, and Mike Yeager of Lo Fi Scorpio is one of these. Lo Fi combines alternative rock, techno, industrial and even acoustic elements to create a sound that can't be easily categorized. All I can think of to describe it in common terms is to think about what might happen if Billy Corrigan and Trent Reznor got together and formed a band. The result might sound something like Lo Fi Scorpio. Violent swings in mood, tempo and energy; killer loops and grooves; powerful vocals; and lyrics that will keep you guessing. This, along with a sound made up of layers of noise and rich, textural melodies create a daring new sound you must hear to fully appreciate. If you buy one CD this entire year, BUY THIS ONE!"
A sound that appeals to all.........

"It seems that in the world of music today, everything is starting to sound the same, if it isn't a boy band, it's a teenage girl, if it isn't a teenage girl, it's some form of latin pop rock. What the world needs is a new sound, something that hasn't been done, and that's exactly what Lo Fi Scorpio has done with their album Noir. From intense, driving guitars as in Salvo and Black Karma to richly layered sounds as in Animation and An English Tale, to even a rap style as in New Math, this album can satisfy any music taste. I have played this album for many people who haven't heard the band before, and now they all not only want the album, but go and see them live as well... A must for any industrial/techno fan, or anyone who can appreciate real talent in songwriting and music."
