Synopsis

Product Description
When two masters of the piano such as Jovino Santos Neto and Weber Iago come together on stage at the renowned Caramoor Jazz Festival, surprisingly the first time these two Brazilian born pianists have ever performed together, and when the instruments they play are beautiful, hand-crafted Fazioli concert grand pianos, the evening's entertainment is certain to exceed even the greatest expectations and soar into the realm of the transcendent. Recorded in 2007, Live at Carmoor features Santos Neto and Iago, performing solo and in tandem, on original compositions and on songs written by such legendary Brazilian composers as Hermeto Pascoal, Pixinguinha, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Santos Neto's music obscures the boundaries between classical, world, and jazz, and has built a solid reputation as a creative and inspired musician/composer/arranger and twice nominated for Latin Grammy awards. Weber Iago also brings the classical traditions into play in his work as a stalwart jazz performer/composer/arranger. As the duo's performance at Caramoor drew to a close, saxophonist Joe Lovano joined them on an amazing version of Antonio Carlos Jobim's Wave. Special things happen in jazz at the spur of the moment, and THIS was a surprise captured for the ages.
