Synopsis

This one gets points for concept: a movie made for children featuring music made primarily by children. Aaron Carter, the 12-year-old brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, kicks things off with "Iko Iko," while Swedish Abba impersonators A*Teens deliver "Gimme!Gimme!Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)," an upbeat dance-floor number destined for late-night TV compilations in 2010. Other teen sensations include Dream Street and No Authority, who each deliver the kind of product fans of the genre have come to expect. This is music designed for cruising not the hardscrabble streets of the city, but the consumer aisles of the shopping mall. Nearly every track, with its maniacal devotion to repeating the "hooks" as often as possible (one listen of Baha Men's "You Can Get It" should have you screaming, "Yes! I get it! I got it the first time!"), is guaranteed to thrill children while simultaneously driving their parents crazy. Which is precisely the point. --Rob O'Connor

CD Reviews

"fun-hair-raising music for Halloween trick-or-treaters"
J. Lovins | Missouri-USA | 10/30/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"New Line Records presents a fun-filled with non-stop beats for the Halloween Season - "The Little Vampire", sure to satisfy the most finicky blood-sucker for the evening festivities. This tale written by Angela Summer-Bodenburg, with director Ulrich Edel, starring Johathan Lipnicki (the little smart-aleck from "Jerry Maguire") befriends a young vampire boy whose family needs an ancient amulet to become mortal again. This inoffensive kiddie movie has enough special-effects magic and cheeky humor to keep the "Big Kids" (grown-ups) from squirming too much in their seats. The music is definitely a highlight along with the special effects..."IKO IKO" (Aaron Carter) is a trip, "SHALALA LALA" (The Vengaboys) in the morning, evening and sunshine, "FLEE FLY FLO" (Fe-Mail) party-time for all vampires, dancing up a storm, and what Halloween celebration would be complete without this next little ditty "REQUIEM (THE FIFTH)" featuring Trans-Siberian Orchestra, fits the mood and witching-hour perfectly.Total Time: 41:51 on 12 Tracks...New Line Records 90042...(2000)"
AWESOME!

"This is a REALLY good Soundtrack! The best track is def. Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! by A*Teens! Its SO AWESOME!However, there are some kinda stupid songs, like Dreamstreet's Lets Get Funky Tonight. They aren't even around anymore... they got broken up cuz of that song!Other than that one song, the rest are GREAT!"
