"In 1969 (or was it 68?) I went to a concert in Chicago to see Jethro Tull and a new band called Led Zeppelin. Zeppelin played last and were preceded by Tull who were preceded by Savoy Brown who were preceded by The Litter, the opening act. I don't know if I paid ten bucks for this fantastic concert, but it was a night I will never forget. I had never heard of The Litter, but I remember thinking that these guys were cooking up some great guitar rock that got the crowd fired up for the big acts. Based on that concert, I bought a cassette of "Emerge" by the group that was just okay (which over time has left me wondering why I liked them so much back then). I bought a studio album ($100 fine) on CD a couple of years ago, but ehh, it was also bland. I finally got this album about a month ago and now see this is a good LIVE band. They have some decent original tunes but what makes this a good CD is a great mix of tightly performed covers: A Legal Matter & Substitute from the Who; Nazz are Blue, I'm Not Talking, & Rack My Mind from Jeff Beck; All Your Love; Talk Talk; Train Kept a Rollin'; and Whatcha Gonna Do About It from the Small Faces. Nice variety and nice guitar work. While no single tune is atmospheric, this is a 74 minute CD that is fun and I keep coming back to it."
