Synopsis

Product Description
"Time to Dream" is Listing Ship's third album. Special appearance by Minutemen co-founder and current Stooge, Mike Watt, playing bass on eight songs. Co-produced by Listing Ship and Steve Gregoropoulos (W.A.C.O.). Largely lo-fi folk, this album veers away from the electric into the realm of the living room. The songs on this album paint vivid, dense, fantastic dreamscapes (a dispute in a salad bowl, unrequited love amid forest fire, dueling Death in a chess game, a cricket in a cage fated to watch free insects burn in an insect zapper), ranging from opaque, gently beautiful metaphor to scathing criticism of surrounding life, death, war. Includes a remastered track recorded in 1994 (Baise Ca) taken from a Leather Hyman cassette tape demo. Formerly called Leather Hyman (a spoonerism of the names of songwriters Lyman Chaffee and Heather Lockie), Listing Ship's live line-up has expanded to include seven people and many instruments, including violin, viola, string bass, vibraphone, banjo, percussion, three-part vocals, various guitars. Chaffee (guitar) is a professor of mathematics in Los Angeles, and Lockie (viola) has recently toured with the Eels and with Arthur Lee, and has worked with Brian Wilson, Sparklehorse, Kristian Hoffman (Mumps), Dave Pajo (Papa M/Slint), Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle), Ana Lenchantin, as well as various Los Angeles bands such as W.A.C.O., The Negro Problem, Eleni Mandell, Amadans, Michael Whitmore Sometet, Carolyn Edwards, The Lottery, etc.
