Synopsis

Album Description
Lindisfarne established themselves as one of British rock's classic bands during the 'seventies, notching up a string of hit albums and singles as well as enjoying a reputation as one of the country's top live acts. Despite their main success coming during that decade, their music is rooted in the sixties, as is their idealism and anti-establishment values. Recorded live during a four week acoustic tour, the album is Lindisfarne's first recording since the sudden death of co-founder and principal songwriter Alan Hull in 1995. The fifteen tracks show that the band's sound was influenced as much by the R'n'B of the States as it was by their own North East roots. Slide guitar, blues harmonica and vocals mix with whistle, accordian and banjo in versions of many of the band's classic numbers, the musicians and audience feeding off each other. Untapped & Acoustic not only shows that Lindisfarne are still as striking as ever in live performance, but also serves as a fitting testament to Alan's unique songwriting talents. Originally designed to be only available at concerts, the album has proved just too good to keep a secret.
