Synopsis

Album Description
Linda Tate Time, Seasons and the Moon "Linda Tate harnesses time and the elements in this exquisite salute to the varied rhythms of nature." -Lucia Mauro, Chicago Tribune SOUTHPORT RECORDS presents the second CD release by vocalist Linda Tate, "Time, Seasons and the Moon." Joining Linda is a stellar cast of Chicago's finest jazz musicians, with Johnny Frigo, Rich Fudoli, Bradley Williams, Curtis Robinson, John Whitfield, Jim Cox, Greg Sergo, Steve Eisen, Bradley Parker-Sparrow, Bobby Schiff, Phil Gratteau, Kathy Kelly, Heitor Garcia and Paulinho Garcia. The opening track, "I Wished On The Moon" is given a bright, playful Latin treatment from Curtis Robinson's guitar, with Linda's purring vocals complimented by Rich Fudoli's outstanding (and vocal) flute work. Other tunes from the "standards" repertoire show off a new spin. "Just In Time" sounds brand new with a quick tempo, as Linda sings and scats with John Whitfield on bass and Greg Sergo on drums. "From This Moment On" retains the melody and song form, yet reveals a highly experimental jazz treatment with the trio and Bradley Williams' quirky piano accompaniment. Brazilian vocalist/guitarist Paulinho Garcia is beautifully featured on two vocal duets with Linda, as he accompanies with his lilting guitar on "I Concentrate On You" and "Falling Grace." Pianist/Composer Bradley Parker-Sparrow has contributed an original song, "Have You Seen The Moon?" which Linda has made her own, with her warm vocal delivery and introspective improvising. "Moonlight In Vermont" is a treasure-trove of musicality, with Johnny Frigo's masterful violin and Rich Fudoli's sumptuous tone on clarinet. SOUTHPORT RECORDS is a true American independent label dedicated to the recording and preservation of "Real Jazz Made In Chicago."
