Electric Lightnin Cant Be Denied

"This CD is great.....Lightnin on electric guitar again, something which I dont feel you hear enough of, but when you do you realise this cat was just as cool on electric as acoustic. I think his electric playing has been underestimated over the years. This is a compilation album, all songs having been recorded in Houston in 1955, '61 and '68. His playing on this CD has a raw edginess and an essentially "recorded live" sound as though it could have been recorded in a hall of some kind. There is a little dialogue here and there to reinforce this perception. Some songs have Lightnin playing solo and others have him accompanied by bass, drums, piano and harmonica but not in a "band" sense, Lightnin's guitar is always the focus. I love this CD as much as The Herald Sessions and if you love electric Lightnin you will too..."
