CD Reviews

The Italian Legend
Miguel Dino Insogna | Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires Argentina | 03/07/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Well, if you love good music as much as I do, and if you also love rock and roll genre, then, you should love this CD. Ligabue is a legend in italy, is as big as Sting is in the whole world. This double CD, which contains Ligabue better songs, is a live recopilation, and it has no wastes, the entire CD is perfect. Everybody from the world should pay attention to this great musician, and this CD is the perfect chance, you won't be dissapointed, because it sounds great."
Poor Sound Ruins Otherwise Great Recording
J. Fuchs | Los Angeles, CA United States | 01/07/2003
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This mostly live (all but 3 tracks) effort from the Bruce Springsteen of Italy rates only 3 stars due to poor sound quality and the high volume of the audience singing along on every track. Ligabue's 70's style rock and ballads, including the wonderful lyrics (in Italian) are better enjoyed on the underlying studio albums, especially "Buon Cumpleano Elvis," which is performed almost in its entirety here. If you already have Ligabue's studio albums, this is worth getting if only for his Italian verions of REM's "It's the end of the world" and Elvis' "suspicious minds.""
Ligabue rules the rock scene in the Italian Boot
Ivo Tremont | Houston, TX United States | 10/19/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I had listened to Luciano Ligabue (with accent on the vowel u) in one of his best works, "Buon Compleanno Elvis". Then I bought "Su e giú da un palco" (On and off the stage). I rediscovered this CD after a trip to Italy where I attended Ligabue's concert in Florence, September 10, 2002. Hear this: Ligabue is a charismatic musician: people flock stadiums to sing along with him. He uses rock to convey positive messages to the audience. No drugs, no violence. Decent behavior and empathy with his public. This double CD has most of what he plays live. The sound is excellent. I love his performance of "Piccola stella senza cielo"(Little star w/o sky, it gives me goose bumps), "Libera nos a malo", and his hymn "Balliamo sul mondo", which he played at the recent Festivalbar 2002, making everybody twist and shake. This CD is worth having not only for italian music fans but most importantly, for those who believe that rock 'n' roll has no borders or language barriers. Twenty-one bucks make it a good deal"
