Synopsis

Product Description
Etcetera is proud to present the hotly anticipated re-release of beloved
Russian pianist Youri Egorov's most-loved recording: Schubert's Moments musicaux. As a bonus, the release features a teaser disc with previously unpublished material, including rare radio recordings. Twenty-five years ago, Egorov was one of the early victims of the AIDS virus. Born in Kazan, in the former Soviet Union, he defected in 1976 and went to Amsterdam, where he met his long-term partner Jan Brouwer. In 1977 Egorov took part in the Van Cliburn Competition in Texas, where he became an audience favorite. When, to the great surprise of many, he failed to be selected for the final, the
disappointed audience raised a sum of $10,000- the exact amount that the winner would receive. In the 1980s he performed mainly in Europe, and recorded for EMI.
